Photography tips - Pets in family photos

Have you considered including your fur-baby into your family portraits? After-all, they are a big part of your life and often grow up alongside your own children.
Here are my tips for including pets in your family portrait session -

1. Bringing your dog to your session can make it feel more relaxed. You will have something to distract you and use as "a prop".

2. Having your pet in your family portraits can make for more emotive images - usually owners are more openly loving towards pets and are happy to kiss and cuddle etc.

3. Getting down low to photograph pets make for some interesting and different images. Its great to see the world from their level for once.

4. Getting close ups of your pets cute features is a must! Their puppy-dog eyes, the cute fluff behind their ears and big worn pads on their paws are details you see every day and really describe the special places they loved to be scratched and tickled.

5. Make sure you bring along their favourite chew toy/ ball. Throwing these about and getting some fun action shots will add playfulness and loads of happiness to your images.

I hope you consider bringing your pet to your next family portrait session! X
