Photography Tip - creating Startburst effect

Have you ever wondered how to make the sun look like a big star in your photos? Its called the starburst effect and can be done quite easily!
For best results, try to position yourself so that the full sun is partly obstructed by a tree, bush, cloud, grass or any other object. It should be just poking out from behind it.
Now adjust your aperture settings in camera to a large number such as 18+ (which is a smaller aperture - or hole for the light to come through). The smaller you go (higher number) the greater starburst effect it will create). This may result in a slightly longer shutter speed but as you are shooting in daylight, a tripod shouldn't be required.
Make sure you adjust your white balance to cloudy or shade if you want a nice warm glow in your image and feel free to adjust the exposure down lower if you are after a silhouette effect.
Have fun!!
