Wondering what to wear?

Often clients ask me for advice on how to dress for their portrait session.
The days of everyone matching (whites tops and blue jeans) are a bit outdated. Wearing colour's that compliment each other though is a great idea.
It's most important to be comfortable but here are a few simple tips and ideas -

Approach it as if all the colours everyone is wearing, were in the one outfit - do they clash or match? Pastels and naturals are soft and complimentary. And avoid wearing clashing colours.

Bold and striking patterns can be distracting in an image. Try to avoid big spots and stripes and logo's as well.

Layering looks lovely and photographs way better than just plain colours (think Country Road catalogue with many layers and patterns). Think about using scarves, cardigans, beads and hats, they can be used as cute props too.. Vertical lines are also flattering, so consider pleated skirts, long beads and heels.

Think about where you will want to hang the prints - will the colours match the decor in your home?

Consider the season and your surroundings too. If its a winter session, Blues and greys are lovely. Autumn colours such as beiges and burnt oranges are nice too.

A great idea is to choose one persons clothing that you love and then base everyone else's outfits around it. Lie all the outfits out on a bed and see how they look.

And if you're still really not sure - text me a photo and I promise to be honest! X
