Day 8 - Sky

I had a really really busy day yesterday. And I got SO much done which made me really happy. Hubby was good enough to take both the kids out with him for an hour which just made my day - it's amazing how much you can get done when you dont have interruptions every 3 minutes!

But becuase I was so busy doing editing and business admin stuff I totally forgot to take my challenge shot until 7pm! Then I realised it was a blessing in disguise because I had been wanting to experiment with taking star trail shots for some time now. And the timing was perfect becuase it was a cloudless night and no moon and my little man slept for long enough for me to get a good hours shooting in.

This image is approx eighty 30 second shots stacked together. The lines you can see going sideways are the planes taking off and landing from the Gold Coast Airport and the orange haze is the light pollution from Coolangatta.
I'm looking forward to another attempt tonight in the opposite direction so I can get a spinning star trail image (as long as it's not to hazy from the smoke - best wishes and good luck to all those in bushfire affected areas)

  1. Very cool! I have been wanting to try this but never have. Maybe one night soon.
