Photography tip of the week

Are you a limb chopper? After reading this post hopefully you'll think about your composition a little more before you click that shutter!

So as a general rule, the idea is if you cant fit in a person's whole body, avoid chopping them off at the joints. If you do need to chop someone off mid thigh or arm, try to keep it closer to the body than to the extremities.
And unless you are deliberately zooming right in on someone's face to focus on their eyes, chopping off the top of the head is usually a no-no.

Taking a step back is a great solution to making sure hands and feet are not "chopped off".

Alternatively, you can always crop the photo in tighter afterwards if you find you have taken a great shot and you're missing a few fingers or toes.

Also, try to make sure that no random hands or feet that don't belong to a body make it into your shot.

As always, there are no steadfast rules to photography, but these are guidelines to make your photos a little more pleasing to the eye, and for you to think before clicking that shutter.
